Intake Assessments

An assessment is where your treatment begins. Assessments are required for your therapist to gain the best insight into your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Assessments include, but are not limited to:

  • Presenting problem

  • History of treatment

  • Family history

  • Current and previous physical and mental health diagnoses

  • Medication list

  • History of Substance Use

  • Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES), or traumas

  • Risk or safety assessments

A thorough assessment will help us to build the best treatment plan for you, your family, or your loved one.

Individual Therapy

Based on the information provided in your assessment, you and your therapist will create goals for treatment. These goals will help to shape your individual therapy sessions and help your therapist to determine what treatment modality may be most effective.

Treatment modalities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Narrative Therapy

  • Mindfulness

For children, other interventions may include play therapy or art therapy techniques.

The frequency of individual therapy is flexible and dependent upon the needs of you or your loved one.

Virtual Telehealth Services

Telehealth services will be available through the SimplePractice electronic health system. These services are open to people who are unable to meet in person at the local office. Telehealth will be provided on a case by case basis. If you are interested in telehealth services, please ask about this service during your phone consultation.

*Most treatment modalities can be done over telehealth, however, some interventions may be more effective in-person.

Resources and Referrals

If during the initial assessment we discover that you or your loved one require a different service, your therapist will help you to the best of their ability find a service or a provider that may be more effective.

Intake paperwork will also include a list of resources for after hours emergencies and resources should a crisis come up.
